Welcome to my Gallery!

I was born in Brooklyn, New York and have lived there nearly all my life. I graduated from the Cooper Union School of Art where I  studied fine art and graphic design, and from New York University.  A children’s book, for which I designed both the calligraphy and illustration while a student at Cooper Union, is now in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York City.

After careers in advertising and book design, I became interested in textile design as it is so painterly, and studied it at the Parsons School of Design in Manhattan. For many years I worked as a textile designer in home furnishings - painting birds, flowers, paisleys and fanciful patterns.
Upon seeing an exhibition of Shirley Sherwood's botanical art collection in 2000, I decided to do botanical paintings in my spare time, and joined the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA). Many of my botanical paintings have been in ASBA and other juried exhibitions; two were exhibited at the Hunt Institute of Botanical Art and Illustration at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, and one of these is in their permanent collection. Another of my botanicals is in the permanent collection of the New York State Museum in Albany.  In 2011, one of my paintings at the Annual Botanical Art Exhibition at Filoli won the Bourn Award for distinction with an emphasis on horticulture presentation. These works are included among the many in the Botanical  section of my Galleries.

I also enjoy working in just pen and ink, especially doing decorative designs.  Recently I decided to expand these into full-sized pen-and-ink drawings and full-color paintings; they appear, respectively, in the Pen & Ink  and  Abstracts galleries.

Alphabets, calligraphy and fonts have also been fascinating to me, and my works with these appear in the  Calligraphy  gallery.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback you provide through my ORDERING  page.
